In a brilliant effort, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) successfully defended their total against Rajasthan Royals that left team Kavya Maran grooving in joy. Sunrisers Hyderabad have now setup a Grand Finale against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 26.

Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals.

In an exciting match, Sunrisers Hyderabad restricted Rajasthan Royals for just 139 runs while chasing a target of 176 to reach the Final.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Scored 175 Runs Thanks to Rahul Tripathi and Heinrich Klaasen

It was Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson who won the toss and opted to field first. Trent Boult managed to get Abhishek Sharma’s wicket in the first over itself after he scored a Six and a Four.

But then it was Rahul Tripathi who led the SRH batting in powerplay. The India international scored 37 runs in 15 balls before was dismissed by Boult. After the powerplay, SRH couldn’t accelerate their inning as wicket kept on falling in regular intervals. Heinrich Klaasen’s 50 runs in 34 balls in the end helped Sunrisers put 175 runs on the board.

Rajasthan Royals Failed to Get Going With Bat Against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Chasing the total, Rajasthan Royals got off to a slow start. They scored 51 runs in the powerplay and lost the wicket of Ton Kohler-Cadmore. Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to play aggressive inning but was dismissed after scoring 42 runs in 21 balls at a strike rate of 200.

Thereafter, Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Roman Powell all failed to make any significant contribution. In the end, Dhruv Jurel’s 56 runs not out from 35 balls only could guide Rajasthan to just reach 139 runs as Sunrisers Hyderabad won the match by 36 runs.

Meanwhile, after bagging the win, Sunrisers Hyderabad co-owner Kavya Maran was seen dancing and grooving in joy as her team will be playing the IPL 2024 Final on the 26 May against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
