VIDEO: Mitchell Marsh Given Not Out by Third Umpire Despite Ball Hitting Pad First

Drama unfolded on the 2nd day of the Pink Ball Test between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval as Australia batter Mitchell Marsh was called not out by third umpire despite hitting the pad first before bat. The incident left many questions on DRS review and umpire decision.
The incident transpired in the 58th over of Australia inning when new batsman Mitchell Marsh came down the ground to play Ravichandran Ashwin’s off spin. However, Marsh failed to connect it properly and it hit the pad, but the on-field umpire called it not out as he felt it hit the bat first.
Team India then decided to review the decision. Third umpire looked at the Snick-o-meter and a zoomed in shot, which clearly displayed that it hit the bat first then hit the bat with the inside edge hitting the ball back on the pads.
Third umpire Richard Kettleborough looked at it long and but in the end decided there was no conclusive evidence to overturn the on-field umpire’s decision and called Mitchell Marsh not out. Many were left shocked including the commentators, who highlighted that the third umpire didn’t even check the ball tracking. Watch the video below.
