The story behind Virat Kohli and Kesrick Williams notebook celebration

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is a high octane player. Throughout his career, he has dominated every bowler he has faced. But once, West Indies bowling all-rounder Kesrick Williams tried to get the skin of Kohli when he got the Indian batter out during the 2017 T20I series between India and West Indies. Kesrick pulled-off his trademark notebook celebration after getting Kohli out.

However, Virat kept it in his mind. After a long 2 years, Kohli finally returned the favour. When West Indies visited India for the 3 match T20I series, team India were chasing a target of 208 runs in the 1st T20I in Hyderabad.

Team India lost the wicket of Rohit Sharma early on and now all the responsibility was on the shoulder of then India Kohli. The batter played match winning knock of 94 runs and during his inning, he smashed Kesrick Williams around all parts of the ground.

In the 16th over, Kohli hit Williams over the wide long on for a six and then he pulled-off Williams’ own notebook celebration, ticking it his bat like he was ticking a notebook. That day, Kesrick Williams was left in shambles and his reaction Kohli’s celebration is still one of the iconic moment from an India vs West Indies series.
