Both Wood and captain Jos Buttler were seen having an animated chat with the umpire. Umpire Sharfuddoula explained that the final call was based on replays, which clearly showed the ball contacting the ground, resulting in De Kock being given another life.

De Kock’s impressive innings eventually came to an end when he scored 65 runs off 38 balls, with Jos Buttler taking a fantastic catch to dismiss him. South Africa were 92/2 at the end of 11.5 overs following De Kock’s dismissal. David Miller then steadied South Africa’s innings, scoring 43 off 28 balls, helping them post a competitive total of 163/6, requiring England to score 164 runs to get one step closer to the semi-finals.
