MI vs GT played an IPL 2025 classic

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Titans played a classic last-ball thriller last night at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was always going to be a big match as both teams sit in the top 4 in the points table.

Mumbai Indians, who have been on a rampant run of 6 matches undefeated streak, were the pre-match favourite. However, after being asked to bat first, they scored only 155 runs.

Gujarat Titans lost an early wicket of Sai Sudharsan, putting GT on the backfoot. However, with target not big, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler took time to build a partnership before the first rain break.

Once the play resumed, Gujarat lost quick wickets, 78-1 to 126-6 in 6 overs. The game was once again when 2 overs of play were left with GT needing 24 runs. Eventually, the target was revised to 147 in 19 overs which Rahul Tewatia, Gerald Coetzee and Arshad Khan achieved and won the match on the last ball of the match.

The win has put Gujarat Titans at the top of the IPL 2025 points table with 16 points from 8 wins in 11 matches, equal on points with RCB but ahead of them on net run rate.
