India have established a firm grip in the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh. After getting off a mammoth lead of 227 runs in the first innings, the host have set a hefty target for Bangladesh to chase down. The batting stint of India was led by the young dynamo Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. The right-left-hand batting duo crafted a 167-run partnership in the first game.

Shubman came back with an unbeatable 119 on the board. The wicketkeeper-batter on the other side, making his red-ball cricket comeback after 634 days, got dismissed after scoring a well-deserved 109 runs in 228 balls, smashing 13 boundaries and four maximums. 

In the second innings, Pant stole the spotlight with a rather unusual act, as he was seen humorously offering fielding suggestions to the opposition. Known for his playful demeanor both on and off the field, the 25-year-old cricketer often finds himself in the limelight for such quirky antics.

On Day 3 of the game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Pant displayed his signature humor again. He got hilariously caught on camera giving fielding suggestions to the Bangladesh team during his batting. In a lighthearted exchange, the left-handed batter’s antics became the highlight of the day. This showed his unique ability to mix fun with competitiveness.

A particularly amusing moment unfolded during his partnership when Pant was overheard on the stump mic directing Bangladesh’s field placement. The Uttarakhand-based cricketer cheekily pointed towards mid-wicket, suggesting, “one fielder here,” to which the guests’ skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto surprisingly obliged, moving a fielder to the exact spot.

IND vs BAN 2024: India dominates with bat on Day 3

India continued their dominance with the bat on Day 3 of the first red-ball duel against the Bangla Tigers. Resuming their innings at 81-3, the partnership between Gill and Pant proved pivotal, as both batters led a commanding performance. 

The Rohit Sharma-led side eventually declared their innings at 287-4. The score forged a daunting target of 515 runs for Bangladesh to chase.
