Former Australia captain Michael Clarke indicated that he is scared of star Indian batter Virat Kohli returning to form ahead of the Pink Ball Day-Night Test match in Adelaide commencing on 6th December, Friday. Clarke said that Australia single-handedly brought Kohli back in form.
The Indian cricket team has taken an early advantage in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series 2024-2025 with a win in the opening match of the series in Perth. For Team India, the standout batters in the 2nd inning were the trio of Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli.
Michael Clarke fears Virat Kohli ahead of 2nd Test
While Jaiswal scored a mammoth 161 runs to put India in control of the ship, but, it is not Jaiswal who is actually causing nightmare to former Australia skipper Michael Clarke but it is in-fact the return in form of star Indian batter Virat Kohli that is causing all sorts of troubles for Clarke.
In a sit down chitchat with Beyond 23 Cricket Podcast, Clarke explained how worried he is of Kohli returning back to form and mentioned Australia as a team has single-handedly got Kohli back in form and it feels like unlocking a lion of a cage.
“We single-handedly as a team played him into form, we unlocked the cage to the lion. When I think about losing the Test match, that’s one thing, but when I think about Virat Kohli making a hundred in the first Test match, that scares me a lot,” said Michael Clarke.
Rohit Sharma is back with Team India
Meanwhile, ahead of the 2nd Test match in Adelaide, the Indian cricket team strength in depth got an upgrade with the arrival of India’s captain Rohit Sharma, who missed the first Test match in Perth due to personal reason.
Rohit will slot straight into the playing XI, however there is much debate about his batting position since KL Rahul displayed a great performance in the 2nd inning while opening alongside Jaiswal. Other than, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill is also available for the match after he missed the first Test due to an injury.
Team India’s Test record at Adelaide Oval
The 2nd Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025 will be a Pink Ball Day-Night Test match. Team India have so far played 13 Test matches at the Adelaide Oval, the venue for the 2nd Test, and they have won only 2 times.
There are 8 defeats and a further 2 draws, which signifies that Team India struggled at this venue and with this being a Pink Ball Test match, it could get a little bit messy for India, since they don’t play a lot of Day-Night Test matches in the recent times.
