Who is Ayush Mhatre, Called-Up to CSK Mid IPL 2025 Season?

The CSK trial of Mumbai’s emerging cricketer, Ayush Mhatre, is expected to be a defining milestone in his early career. After performing in domestic leagues, the 17-year-old batter was given an exclusive trial chance with (CSK).
MS Dhoni and the CSK scouting staff were impressed by his consistent achievements in the Ranji Trophy and the domestic Cup. Mhatre, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega-auction held in Jeddah in November, might join the Chennai team after the trial.
Who is 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre?
Ayush Mhatre is a talented Mumbai batter who has attracted millions of fans with several sensational performances in the domestic league. It is worth noting that CSK tested him last year also but did not acquire him in last year’s big auction.
Mhatre also made a match-winning century against Saurashtra in a Vijay Hazare Trophy group match in January, ending as with 458 runs in seven matches at a staggering average of 65.42.
Mhatre came out excellently in last year’s U19 Asia Cup, scoring 176 runs at a wonderful average of 44 and an incredible strike rate of 135.38.
Will CSK recruit Mhatre?
CSK is currently dealing with a top-order problem in IPL 2025, with Ruturaj Gaikwad occupying the third place. Openers Rachin Ravindra perform well but Rahul Tripathi has yet to deliver as a tandem. There have been suggestions to include Devon Conway in the batting order.
CSK is seventh in the points table (IPL 2025), having won one and lost two of their three matches. Mhatre’s presence might infuse new enthusiasm into the squad during this crisis.
Yes, we’ve called him for trials. He has impressed our talent scouts. If there’s any need, we’ll do that. We’re not picking anybody, it’s just a trial,” CSK CEO Mr. Kasi Viswanathan stated to TOI.
