Mumbai Indians (MI) have today given another uncapped player Raj Angad Bawa an opportunity to shine in the IPL 2025. He is replacing former MI captain Rohit Sharma, who is has been ruled out due to injury.

Mumbai Indians today is taking on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. This is a crucial match for both the teams. While LSG lost their last match here, Mumbai Indians would be looking to make it 2 wins in a row after the win vs KKR.

However, Mumbai Indians today have been dealt a huge blow even before the match could begin as former captain and star batter Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the match due to knee injury. He has been replaced by Raj Angad Bawa, a former India U19 all-rounder.

Who is Raj Angad Bawa?

After already unleashing the likes of Vignesh Puthur and Ashwani Kumar, Mumbai Indians today would be hoping that Raj Angad Bawa can also capitalise on the great opportunity.

Raj Bawa is a 22-years-old all-rounder who played for the India U19 team during the 2022 U19 World Cup which India won beating England in the final, where Raj was named Man of the Match for taking a 5 wicket-haul. In that tournament, he scored 252 runs in 5 innings with an average of 63.00, it included an inning of 162 unbeaten runs off 108 against Uganda.

Raj Angad Bawa was born on 12 November, 2002 at a town name Nahan in Himachal Pradesh but grew-up in Chandigarh and represent the Chandigarh team in the Indian domestic cricket. He is the grandson of former Olympic Gold Medalist Trilochan Singh Bawa, who won the Gold medal in Field Hockey for India in the 1948 at the London Olympics.

This is will be Raj Angad Bawa’s Mumbai Indians debut. However, he already has previous IPL experience having played for the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022, but is yet to make an impact which is why he was released by the franchise.

Raj played in 2 matches for Punjab Kings against RCB and KKR where he scored 0 runs vs RCB and 11 runs vs KKR. This will be his 2nd stint in the IPL, this time with the 5-times champions Mumbai Indians and he will be much better stint than the Punjab Kings.
