The Sunrisers Hyderabad has broken the losing streak and is back on the winning track by defeating Punjab Kings in the 27th match of the IPL 2025. Pat Cummins’ team has added Smaran Ravichandran from Karnataka to the squad.

Who is Smaran Ravichandran? 

Sunrisers Hyderabad signed Australian cricketer Adam Jampa in the mega auction. But, he is out of IPL 2025 due to injury. Now, SRH has announced Zampa’s replacement. The franchise has signed Karnataka’s Smaran Ravichandran. He is a 21-year-old left-hand batter who bats at 4 for Karnataka in domestic cricket. SRH has added him for Rs 30 lakh. In the mega auction for IPL 2025, Smaran Ravichandran drafted his name with a base price of Rs 30 lakh. But no team showed interest in buying him there and he remained unsold. 

If we look at his recent form, he scored a century for Karnataka in the final match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy to win the title. Smaran has played 7 matches in first-class cricket, in which he has scored 516 runs at an average of 64.56. He has also scored 2 centuries in this. At the same time, he has scored 433 runs in 10 List-A matches. Moreover, he has scored 170 runs in 6 T20 matches at a strike rate of 170, which also includes a fifty.

Smaran’s batting is tremendous, now it will be interesting to see whether he gets a chance to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025. Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their next match against Mumbai Indians on 17 April, at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. They are currently in 9th place in the points table of IPL 2025, with two wins in 6 games.
