Vignesh Puthur made his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians in their very first match against Chennai Super Kings. This wrist spinner belongs to Malappuram in Kerala. The Mumbai Indians signed him for his base price of 30 lakhs in the highly competitive IPL 2025 auction. You will be surprised to know that he has yet to represent Kerala at the senior level. He played at up to under-19 levels. 

Vignesh came into the limelight when he performed brilliantly in the Kerala College Premier League T20 Championship. He took 15 wickets in 8 innings of the tournament. He also got a chance to play in the Kerala Cricket League for the Alleppey Ripples team. However, Vignesh took 2 wickets in three innings of the league. Vignesh Puthur made his debut in IPL 2025 against Chennai Super Kings. He surprised everyone by giving a great performance in his very first IPL match. Vignesh came to Mumbai Indians playing 11 as an impact player and replaced at the start of the second inning. As soon as he came to Bowl, he made Chennai Super Kings captain Rituraj Gaikwad his first victim in his very first over. Gaikwad got out after scoring a brilliant half-century. And he took his second IPL wicket in the form of Shivam Dube in his second over. While Deepak Hooda became his third victim. He created problems for Chennai Super Kings by taking three wickets in his three consecutive overs. Vignesh Puthur has proved his talent by giving such a performance against a big team like Chennai. Overall, He took three wickets for 32 runs in his four-over magical spell on IPL debut. He showed his talent by performing exceptionally in his very first match, and that is why Mumbai Indians had shown faith in him.
