The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) rolls as the match 3 of the IPL 2025 is a big. The two most successful teams Chennai Super Kings (CSK) host the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday from 7:30 P.M Indian Standard Time (IST).

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were unlucky the last season as they finished 5th but with equal points to 4th placed RCB who qualified on net run rate after beating CSK in the last league phase match for both the teams. Although CSK were cruising to victory, MS Dhoni six out of the ground helped RCB instead as the umpires had to change the wet ball with a new ball that eventually helped RCB to win and qualify for the playoffs.

As for Mumbai Indians, there were major controversy surrounding the team last season. A returning Hardik Pandya was named captain replacing Rohit Sharma, which made the fans unhappy and there were backlash throughout the season. As a result, Mumbai finished bottom of the points table last season. But Hardik Pandya will still continue to lead the team this season.

Trent Boult

With no Jasprit Bumrah in this match-up for the Mumbai Indians, New Zealand pace bowler Trent Boult will be the main bowler for the Mumbai Indians in this match. Boult is a very successful bowler in the IPL with 121 wickets. He is a lethal weapon with the new ball in the powerplay. He picked 16 wickets last year for Rajasthan Royals, mostly effective in the powerplay.

Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar will be turning out for the Mumbai Indians against his former team CSK in this match. This is where MI would be hoping to use Chahar’s experience of this venue to their favour. Deepak a successful bowler in the IPL taking 77 wickets. He gets swing with the new ball while change of pace and other variations makes him effective. Interestingly, he has a great record at the MA Chidambaram Stadium with 23 wickets to his name at this venue, which would do wonders for MI.

Noor Ahmad

Afghanistan chinaman bowler Noor Ahmad is a new addition in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) set-up ahead of the IPL 2025 season. Many cricket experts and fans believe that Noor will be hugely benefitted by playing at the Chidambaram Stadium where there is always some assist for spinners. And when there is something for the spinners, it elevates Noor to different level. He played for Gujarat Titans before where he took 16 wickets in 2023 and 8 in 2024.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja has been a big match winner for the Chennai Super Kings over the years playing for the yellow army. The India all-rounder has taken 160 wickets in vastly long career in the IPL, out of which he has bagged 20 wickets against Mumbai Indians. Jadeja bowls faster than a normal spin bowler which allows the ball to skid a little bit, which stump line length makes one of the regular wicket-taking options for CSK.
