Who Will Take Most Wickets in Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals IPL 2025 Match ?

The 2nd match of the 18th season of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2025, will be played between last season’s runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Rajasthan Royals. The match will be played at 3:30 P.M Indian Standard Time (IST) at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad have their work cutout after their last season’s disappointing defeat in the final against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They were the most dominant side throughout the league phase but probably saved their worst performance for the final as they were wrapped-up for 113 runs which KKR chased in 10 overs making it a one-sided IPL final.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals will feel they have a revenge of their own. The Royals started the season off to a flyer winning the 8 out of first 9 matches of the season. But following that, 4 losses in a row meant they finished at 3rd position in the points table. Although they surpassed the RCB challenge in the Eliminator, they eventually lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the qualifier 2.

Mohammed Shami

He might have missed the entire IPL 2024 season, but India international pace bowler Mohammed Shami will be looking to make a strong comeback. Shami was in great form for India in recent ICC Champions Trophy taking 9 wickets. In the previous IPL he played, in IPL 2023, Shami bagged 28 wickets in total for the Gujarat Titans, taking the side to the final. He will once again look to repeat the same.

Harshal Patel

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will hope that Harshal Patel is their direct replacement of veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is no longer a part of the franchise. Patel is a very similar kind of player to Bhuvneshwar and most importantly he won the Purple Cap last season taking 24 wickets in 14 matches while he was playing for a hugely underperforming Punjab Kings.

Jofra Archer

None of their top wicket-takers are with the Rajasthan Royals this season. In such scenario, there will be huge responsibility on England pacer Jofra Archer. Archer is making his return to Rajasthan Royals after couple of years. Archer has missed several seasons due to injury but he has delivered his best performance for the Royals, taking 15, 11 and 20 wickets respectively.

Sandeep Sharma

Sandeep Sharma’s experience will be hugely crucial for the Rajasthan Royals who have seen all of their top bowlers from last season no longer a part of the franchise this season. Sandeep Sharma had ok season last year taking 13 wickets in 10 matches with an economy rate of 8.18. Sandeep has a great skillset. He specialises in change of pace, back of the hand slower, swing bowling and then the ability to bowl in death as well, which will be crucial for the Royals.
