People saw a heated argument between Shubman Gill and the umpire during Friday’s Gujarat Titans-Sunrisers Hyderabad match at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The Gujarat Titans’ captain angrily shouted at the umpire.

The incident occurred in the 13th over when Jos Buttler hit a ball from Zeeshan Ansari towards short fine leg and attempted a quick single. Harshal Patel collected the ball and threw it to the striker’s end. Heinrich Klaasen, positioned in front of the stumps, tried to deflect the ball onto the stumps using his gloves. Initially, the run-out appeared very close, prompting the on-field umpire to refer it to the third umpire for a review.

The third umpire analysed whether Klaasen’s gloves had made contact with the stumps before the ball. After reviewing several angles and replays, the umpire concluded that the ball had indeed hit the stumps, citing the obvious deflection off the gloves as evidence. Gill was visibly shocked and angry at this decision, but had no choice but to return to the pavilion. After the decision, he went to the dugout and vented his frustrations to TV umpire Michael Gough. That’s why people saw Gill angrily talking with the TV umpire, even though he’d played a brilliant 76-run innings before being dismissed.
