Yuvraj Singh Keeps Rishabh Pant Ahead of Sanju Samson in Pecking Order for India’s Wicketkeeper in T20 World Cup 2024

Fans are eagerly anticipating the start of the T20 World Cup 2024, beginning June 1 and co-hosted by the West Indies and USA. A major point of discussion is who will don the wicketkeeper’s gloves for Team India, Rishabh Pant or Sanju Samson. Both have been included in India’s 15-member squad for the tournament.
Samson has had an impressive IPL season, scoring 504 runs in 13 matches, showcasing his excellent form. Pant, returning to action after recovering from a severe road accident, also had a notable season with 446 runs in 13 matches.
Yuvraj Singh picks Rishabh Pant as India’s Wicketkeeper for T20 World Cup 2024
Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has weighed in on the debate, favouring Pant for the wicketkeeper role. Yuvraj emphasized the advantage of having a left-handed wicketkeeper and highlighted Pant’s potential as a match-winner.
“I would probably go for Rishabh. Sanju is also in great form, but Rishabh is a left-hander, and I believe that Rishabh has massive potential to win games for India, which he has done in the past. A lot more in Test cricket, and he’s someone who I feel can be a match-winner on the big stage,” Yuvraj said in an interview with ICC.
Yuvraj, who was instrumental in India’s victory in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007, also mentioned the importance of Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah for India’s success in the tournament. He stressed that Suryakumar needs to have a good outing and Bumrah must be at his best for India to secure their second T20 World Cup title.
India’s campaign will kick off against Ireland on June 5 in New York, with the much-anticipated clash against arch-rival Pakistan scheduled for June 9 at the same venue.
