Wankhede Stadium
The Mumbai Indians (MI) roared back to form with a dominant 54-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium in Match 45 of IPL 2025. Batting first, MI posted an imposing 215/7, powered by Ryan Rickelton’s fluent 58 off 32 balls and Suryakumar Yadav’s explosive 54 off just 28 deliveries. Debutant Corbin Bosch and Naman Dhir added vital late-order runs to maintain the momentum throughout the innings. The comprehensive batting performance helped MI extend their winning streak to five matches, lifting them to second place on the points table and keeping their playoff hopes strong.
In response, LSG’s chase never really gathered pace, as Mumbai’s bowlers put in a clinical performance. Ayush Badoni and Mitchell Marsh attempted to steady the innings, but with Jasprit Bumrah delivering a sensational spell of 4 for 22 and Trent Boult chipping in with three wickets, the visitors were bundled out for 161. Regular breakthroughs and tight bowling from MI ensured that LSG never threatened the target. It was a commanding all-round display from Mumbai Indians, signaling that the five-time champions are finding top gear just as the business end of the tournament approaches.

First Innings – Mumbai Indians 215/7(20 Overs)
Opening their innings with positive intent, Mumbai Indians found a solid platform through Ryan Rickelton, who took on the LSG attack early. His crisp strokeplay, combined with Suryakumar Yadav’s fluent hitting at No. 3, meant Mumbai raced to a formidable position by the halfway mark. Even after Rickelton and Surya departed, Mumbai didn’t lose momentum. Contributions from Corbin Bosch, who impressed on debut, and a fiery cameo from Naman Dhir at the back end helped MI breach the 200-run mark. A slight slowdown in the final few overs prevented an even bigger score, but 215 was always going to be tough to chase at Wankhede.
Second Innings – Lucknow Super Giants 161/10(20 Overs)
Chasing 216, LSG’s innings got derailed right from the start. MI’s bowlers, especially Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah, kept things tight and made early inroads. No batter apart from Ayush Badoni and Mitchell Marsh showed the required temperament or power-hitting to threaten the target. Bumrah’s four-wicket burst in the middle overs sealed the deal, while Boult’s three early strikes meant LSG were always behind the asking rate. Eventually, they were bowled out for 161, handing MI a massive 54-run win.
Win Prediction: Home advantage at Wankhede once again proved crucial for Mumbai’s dominance.
Mumbai’s Batting Prowess: MI’s solid batting lineup, particularly Suryakumar Yadav, delivered a match-winning performance.
Fierce Bowling Attack: Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult were outstanding with the ball, exploiting LSG’s fragile middle order.
Rickelton’s Innings: We did not anticipate Ryan Rickelton to play such a big role upfront with a half-century.
LSG middle order struggle: Expected a stronger challenge from LSG’s middle order, but they collapsed under pressure.
Mumbai Indians’ clinical win against LSG reaffirmed their growing confidence in IPL 2025. Their key players are hitting top form just when it matters, and the balance between their batting and bowling makes them a real threat heading into the business end of the season. LSG, meanwhile, continue to struggle with inconsistency, particularly with the bat, which puts a big question mark on their playoff hopes. MI’s momentum now looks unstoppable, and they’ll be aiming to carry this dominant form into their upcoming matches.

Eden Gardens
The Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) struggles in IPL 2025 continued, but this time, it wasn’t just their form that let them down—it was the rain. After a strong performance with the bat from Punjab Kings (PBKS), the match was unfortunately abandoned at Eden Gardens without a full chase taking place. Punjab Kings, led by a brilliant opening partnership between Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, had posted a commanding total of 201/4 in their 20 overs. It was set up for a thrilling chase, but heavy rains disrupted the second innings after just one over of KKR’s batting. Both teams were forced to settle for a point each, a result that hurt KKR’s slim playoff chances while helping PBKS in their push toward the top four.
Punjab Kings (Playing XI): Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Shreyas Iyer(c), Josh Inglis(wk), Nehal Wadhera, Shashank Singh, Glenn Maxwell, Azmatullah Omarzai, Marco Jansen, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal

First Innings – Punjab Kings 201/4(20 Overs)
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Punjab Kings got off to a flying start. Openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh laid a fantastic platform, stitching together a 120-run partnership for the first wicket. Arya played the anchor role perfectly, scoring a composed 69, while Prabhsimran went on the attack, hammering a brilliant 83 that kept KKR’s bowlers under constant pressure.
KKR’s famed spin duo, Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine, tried to bring some control into the innings during the middle overs, but the PBKS openers were well-prepared, using their feet and targeting the shorter boundary. Even after Arya’s dismissal by Vaibhav Arora, PBKS didn’t lose momentum. Shreyas Iyer, coming in at No.3, chipped in with a useful cameo alongside Josh Inglis, ensuring Punjab crossed the 200-run mark—finishing with 201/4. KKR’s bowlers, particularly the pacers, looked off-color again. Vaibhav Arora picked two crucial wickets, while others seemed failing to get early breakthroughs or control the death overs.
Second Innings – Kolkata Knight Riders 7/0(1 Over, Match Abandoned due to rain)
With a daunting target in front of them, KKR’s reply began under threatening skies. Gurbaz and Sunil Narine opened the innings but managed only seven runs in the first over. As the players were gearing up for the second over, the rain intensified, forcing the ground staff into action. Despite multiple inspections and attempts to resume play, the rain refused to relent, and eventually, the match was called off. The washout meant the game ended without a result, much to the frustration of both teams and the fans at Eden Gardens.
We had anticipated that Punjab Kings’ top-order could take the game away, and that’s exactly what happened with Arya and Prabhsimran dominating right from the start.
It was predicted that KKR’s bowling, despite their spinners’ quality, might not be able to contain PBKS’s aggressive batting—and they conceded 200+ runs.
It was also expected that KKR’s batting could come under pressure chasing a big target.
Weather was the unexpected player here; we didn’t account for rain playing spoilsport and preventing the second innings.
We missed seeing how KKR’s top order would respond under scoreboard pressure, especially with their inconsistent opening combination this season.
The much-anticipated clash at Eden Gardens ended in disappointment as the rain had the final say. Punjab Kings, who had batted superbly to post a strong total, were denied the chance to push for a full win, but the shared points still work in their favor as they continue their climb in the playoff race. For Kolkata Knight Riders, the abandoned game feels like a missed opportunity, as their playoff hopes now look even slimmer.
Interestingly, this season has seen a strange pattern—teams that historically struggled at certain grounds, like PBKS at Eden Gardens, are starting to break old curses. Unfortunately for KKR, this washout means they remain stuck outside the playoff spots, and unless they pull off a winning streak soon, their campaign could be heading towards an early end.

MA Chidambaram Stadium
Chennai Super Kings’ struggles in the IPL 2025 season continued as they suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk. Batting first, CSK posted a decent total of 154 before being bowled out in the final over. In reply, despite a few hiccups early on, Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the target with eight balls to spare. Harshal Patel was the star with the ball for SRH, while Ishan Kishan and Kamindu Mendis kept their chase on track with composed innings.
CSK’s batting woes were on full display yet again as their middle order collapsed under pressure, and their bowling couldn’t create enough breakthroughs to defend the modest total.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (Playing XI): Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen(wk), Aniket Verma, Kamindu Mendis, Pat Cummins(c), Harshal Patel, Jaydev Unadkat, Zeeshan Ansari, Mohammed Shami

Chennai Super Kings (Playing XI): Shaik Rasheed, Ayush Mhatre, Deepak Hooda, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni(wk/c), Noor Ahmad, Khaleel Ahmed, Matheesha Pathirana
Impact Sub: Anshul Kamboj
Top performers
First Innings – Chennai Super Kings 154/10 (19.5 Overs)
CSK’s innings started poorly with Shaik Rasheed falling for a duck in the very first over. Sam Curran and Ayush Mhatre tried to rebuild the innings, but Curran fell soon after. Mhatre played a few good shots to lift the scoring rate but got out attempting a big hit. Ravindra Jadeja and Dewald Brevis then steadied things, with Brevis being the aggressor. CSK had some optimism after Brevis’s 42-run cameo, which featured three straight sixes, but SRH regained the upper hand after his departure due to a spectacular catch by Kamindu Mendis. After Brevis fell, the lower middle order couldn’t push on. Despite a few late blows from Deepak Hooda, CSK were bowled out for 154 in the final over, a total that always seemed 20-30 runs short at Chepauk.
Second Innings – Sunrisers Hyderabad 155/5 (18.4 Overs)
Chasing 155, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a jittery start as Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck early. Travis Head and Ishan Kishan steadied the innings with a cautious partnership before Head fell trying to up the ante. Heinrich Klaasen too departed cheaply, giving CSK a glimmer of hope. However, Ishan Kishan’s well-paced knock of 44 provided the backbone SRH needed. Even after Kishan’s dismissal, Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Kumar Reddy calmly saw off the target. Mendis played a mature knock under pressure, ensuring there were no late dramas. In the end, SRH crossed the finish line comfortably in the 19th over with five wickets in hand.
Middle-order struggles for both teams: As expected, both sides’ middle-orders were shaky, but SRH had just enough depth to overcome it.
Low-scoring match: We expected a slow, low-scoring game due to the Chepauk surface, and that prediction played out perfectly with CSK struggling to 154 and SRH chasing cautiously.
Harshal Patel to Fire: We anticipated SRH’s bowlers would dominate, and Harshal proved decisive with 4/28.
Dew aiding chase: We noted that dew could help the chasing side, and SRH’s pursuit under lights confirmed that advantage.
Winner prediction: We had backed CSK to win at home banking on their bowlers and the slow surface, but SRH executed their plans better and came out on top.
CSK batting to deliver: We expected CSK’s batting to step up with players like Shivam Dube, and Brevis. While Brevis delivered briefly, overall the batting again faltered badly.
SRH’s inconsistency: We thought SRH’s batting struggles would hurt them again, but they showed better application under pressure, especially Kishan and Mendis.
It was another forgettable night for Chennai Super Kings as their playoff hopes officially ended with this defeat. In a season where nothing seemed to click for CSK, this match once again exposed their fragile batting and over-reliance on individual performances. The loss also continued an unusual trend this year — Chepauk, once considered CSK’s fortress, has been conquered by almost every visiting team. Teams that had never won at Chepauk before have broken their jinx this season, and SRH added their name to that list tonight. For CSK, it’s a season to forget as they find themselves knocked out of the playoffs race, while for SRH, the win keeps their slim chances alive.

M.Chinnaswamy Stadium
Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally tasted victory at home with a tight 11-run win over Rajasthan Royals in Match 42 of IPL 2025. After a string of home losses, this win at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium gave RCB a much-needed boost. Their top-order set the tone, with Virat Kohli scoring a composed 70 and Devdutt Padikkal contributing a steady half-century, helping them post a strong 205/5 on the board.
Rajasthan Royals came close in the chase, thanks to a fiery start from Yashasvi Jaiswal who smashed 49 in no time and Dhruv Jurel who kept the momentum going with a 47-run knock. But RCB’s bowlers held their nerve in the final overs, with Josh Hazlewood playing a key role by picking up four wickets and sealing the game for Bengaluru.
Rajasthan Royals (Playing XI): Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubham Dubey, Nitish Rana, Riyan Parag(c), Dhruv Jurel(wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Jofra Archer, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Tushar Deshpande, Sandeep Sharma

Top performers
First Innings: Royal Challengers Bengaluru 205/5 (20 Overs)
RCB’s decision to bat first paid off as openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli gave them a brisk start. Salt looked dangerous early, smashing 26 off 23 before being dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga. Kohli, meanwhile, played the anchor role beautifully, crafting a fluent 70 off 42 balls, with well-timed boundaries that kept the scoreboard ticking.
Devdutt Padikkal joined the party with a classy 50, and together with Kohli, he ensured RCB stayed well above the run rate. In the final few overs, Jitesh Sharma and Tim David added some fireworks, taking RCB past the 200-run mark. Jofra Archer bowled with discipline for RR, but the rest of the bowling attack lacked bite and variety in the death overs.
Second Innings: Rajasthan Royals 194/9 (20 Overs)
Chasing a big target, Rajasthan Royals came out swinging. Yashasvi Jaiswal launched a blistering assault, smashing 49 off just 19 balls to give RR the early momentum. But once he fell to Josh Hazlewood, the momentum began to shift. RCB’s bowlers tightened the screws in the middle overs, picking wickets at crucial intervals.
Dhruv Jurel provided resistance with a gritty 47, trying to revive the chase, but lacked consistent support from the other end. RCB’s bowling unit, particularly Hazlewood who ended with 4/33, kept their composure despite the late surge. RR’s innings ended at 194/9, falling just short of the target.
Win Prediction: We backed Royal Challengers Bengaluru to win this match based on their overall form and squad strength compared to a struggling Rajasthan Royals side.
RCB’s balanced performance: As expected, Bengaluru’s experienced bowling attack outperformed Rajasthan’s inconsistent one. Hazlewood’s spell was match-defining.
Top-order impact: Kohli and Padikkal gave RCB the start they needed, setting up the game perfectly.
RR’s early firepower: Jaiswal’s explosive start caught RCB off guard for a bit and made the chase look threatening.
RCB finally winning at home: Given their poor run at the Chinnaswamy this season, this win came as a pleasant surprise.
Death Bowling Concerns Didn’t Materialize for RCB: We had a small doubt about RCB’s ability to contain runs in the death overs—yet they executed brilliantly this time, particularly Hazlewood and Krunal.
RR’s Fight Until the End: We assumed RR might crumble under scoreboard pressure, but they stayed in the game till the last two overs, showing more resilience than predicted.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally broke their home jinx with a crucial 11-run win over Rajasthan Royals, thanks to a strong batting effort led by Virat Kohli and a composed bowling display spearheaded by Josh Hazlewood. Despite a valiant chase from Rajasthan, RCB’s all-round performance stood out, reaffirming their growing confidence in the IPL 2025 campaign and strengthening their position in the playoff race.

In the match 41 of IPL 2025, Mumbai Indians cruised to a 7-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad. After opting to bowl first, MI’s pace attack tore through SRH’s top order in the powerplay. Despite a fightback from Heinrich Klaasen, who held one end with a gritty half-century, SRH only managed a modest 143/8 in 20 overs.
Chasing the target, Mumbai batted with authority. Rohit Sharma’s commanding knock and Suryakumar Yadav’s explosive finish sealed the win in under 16 overs. With this result, MI continued their resurgence, moving up the points table at third position after a rocky start to the season.

Top performers
First Innings: Sunrisers Hyderabad – 143/8 (20 overs)
Sunrisers endured a nightmare start, losing four wickets inside the first five overs. Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Reddy fell cheaply as MI’s seamers, especially Trent Boult, found early movement and exploited SRH’s weaknesses.
Heinrich Klaasen took the innings deep with a valiant 71 off 49 balls, playing smart cricket while wickets fell around him. A 50-run stand with Aniket Sharma added some respectability, but the overall total looked under par. Boult led the bowling attack with figures of 4/28, putting pressure on SRH throughout the innings.
Second Innings: Mumbai Indians – 144/3 (15.4 overs)
Mumbai Indians began steadily and then accelerated with Rohit Sharma playing the anchor. His 70 off 46 was laced with timing and placement, while Suryakumar Yadav made a quick-fire 40* to polish off the chase. SRH’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, and the lack of early breakthroughs meant MI always stayed ahead of the required rate. The chase was wrapped up with more than four overs to spare, a testament to MI’s batting depth and confidence.
Correct predictions ✅
Win Prediction: We predicted a win for Mumbai Indians, pointing to their recent winning momentum and deeper batting line-up.
Mumbai’s Batting Depth: We highlighted MI’s robust batting lineup, which was evident as Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar yadav led the successful chase.
SRH’s dependence on their top: We noted SRH’s reliance on their top order, and their early collapse validated this concern eventually affecting their chances to win.
Misses ❌
Trent Boult’s Impact: While we expected MI’s bowlers to perform, Boult’s 4-wicket haul exceeded our specific predictions.
SRH’s Middle Order Resilience: Heinrich Klassen’s 71 was a standout performance that we didn’t foresee, providing SRH with a fighting total.
SRH Batting Depth Was Overestimated: We assumed SRH’s batting, anchored by Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, would pose a big threat. However, both were dismissed cheaply, exposing SRH’s over-reliance on their openers and revealing their middle order’s vulnerability.
Mumbai Indians put on a clinical show in Hyderabad, outplaying Sunrisers Hyderabad in all departments. Their bowlers set the tone early, dismantling SRH’s top order and never letting them recover fully. The experienced heads in MI’s batting line-up then ensured the chase was smooth, with Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav leading from the front.
For SRH, this match further highlighted their over-reliance on a few players and the lack of consistency in both batting and bowling. As the tournament heads into its business end, SRH will need to regroup quickly for remaining matches, while MI will look to build on this momentum to push for a playoff spot.

Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium
Delhi Capitals cruised to an 8-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. After being asked to chase 160, DC reached the target with ease, finishing at 161/2 in 17.5 overs. KL Rahul anchored the innings with an unbeaten 57 off 42 balls, while Abishek Porel supported him brilliantly with a fluent 51 off 36 deliveries. Earlier, Mukesh Kumar’s 4-wicket haul played a major role in restricting LSG to a below-par total.
Lucknow Super Giants started well but failed to capitalize on their start. Aiden Markram stood tall with a half-century, but the rest of the batting struggled against Delhi’s disciplined attack. Despite having wickets in hand, LSG couldn’t find the final flourish they needed, managing only 72 runs in the last 10 overs. Delhi’s clinical all-round performance, both with ball and bat, ensured a comfortable two points for them.

First Innings: Lucknow Super Giants – 159/6 (20 Overs)
Lucknow got off to a solid start, reaching 51/0 in the powerplay with Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram building a steady base. However, once the field spread out, Delhi’s bowlers, led by Mukesh Kumar, tightened the screws. Mukesh picked up four crucial wickets, breaking the back of LSG’s innings.
Although Markram tried to steady things with a composed 52 off 33 balls, Lucknow’s momentum dipped in the second half. They managed just 72 runs in the last 10 overs, ending with a modest 159/6.
Second Innings: Delhi Capitals – 161/2 (17.5 Overs)
Delhi’s chase started cautiously, with Karun Nair falling early after a 36-run opening stand. KL Rahul and Abishek Porel then stitched together a vital 69-run partnership, steering DC into a commanding position. After Porel’s departure Axar Patel chipped in with a lively 34* off 20 balls. KL Rahul played a fierce knock, staying unbeaten till the end, hitting the last six completing the chase with 13 balls to spare.
We predicted Delhi Capitals to win, and they won comfortably by 8 wickets.
We expected Delhi’s strong batting to make a difference — and it did, with KL Rahul and Abishek Porel leading the chase easily.
We highlighted LSG’s middle-order issues — which proved true, as they collapsed badly after a decent start.
We mentioned that Delhi’s bowling unit would be tested, but their overall bowling depth could still trouble LSG — this happened as Mukesh Kumar led the charge with a 4-wicket haul.
We anticipated Lucknow’s batting to slow down in the later stages, which also matched perfectly (LSG scored just 72 runs in the last 10 overs).
We expected Kuldeep Yadav and Mitchell Starc to be the main wicket-takers for DC — but Mukesh Kumar turned out to be the unexpected hero with 4 wickets.
We assumed LSG’s fighting spirit (seen in previous matches) would keep the match tighter — but Lucknow couldn’t even post a challenging total, collapsing earlier than we thought.
We expected Jake Fraser-McGurk to be out of form — but he didn’t bat today as the openers finished most of the job.
Delhi Capitals showcased their growing dominance in IPL 2025 with a clinical performance against Lucknow Super Giants. Their spinners set up the match beautifully, and their deep batting lineup ensured a smooth chase despite early hiccups. LSG’s inconsistencies with the bat hurt them badly, and while they fought hard, Delhi’s overall balance and composure proved too strong on the day. This win further strengthens DC’s position in the playoff race, while LSG will need to reassess their top-order strategies moving forward.

Gujarat Titans delivered a dominant performance to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders by 39 runs in their IPL 2025 clash. Batting first, GT’s top order fired brilliantly with Shubman Gill scoring a classy 90 off 55 balls and Sai Sudharsan contributing 52 off 36. Their opening partnership laid a solid foundation before Jos Buttler’s quick unbeaten 41 helped Titans post an imposing total of 198/3 in their 20 overs.
In response, KKR struggled to build any momentum during the chase. Despite a fighting fifty from captain Ajinkya Rahane, wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Gujarat’s bowlers, especially Rashid Khan and Prasidh Krishna, kept the pressure on, each picking up two wickets. KKR could only manage 159/8 in their innings, falling well short and continuing their inconsistent run this season, while GT strengthened their position at the top of the table.

First Innings: Gujarat Titans 198/3 (20 Overs)
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Gujarat Titans got off to a brilliant start thanks to an impressive 114-run stand between Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. Gill led from the front with a superb 90 off 55 balls, while Sudharsan supported well with a composed 52 off 36 deliveries. KKR bowlers couldn’t stop the leaking runs. Later, Jos Buttler chipped in with an unbeaten 41, helping GT post a strong total of 198/3 at the end of their 20 overs.
Second Innings: Kolkata Knight Riders 159/8 (20 Overs)
KKR’s chase never really took off as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Captain Ajinkya Rahane scored a fighting half-century, but found little support from the other batters. Young lad Angkrish yet again tried to Save KKR with knock of unbeaten 27, but failed. The Titans’ bowlers, led by Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan who picked up two wickets each, bowled with great discipline to restrict KKR to just 159/8 in 20 overs.
Gujarat Titans were predicted to win — and they did.
We expected GT’s top three (Gill, Sudharsan, Buttler) to be the main contributors — and they delivered strong performances.
We predicted GT’s bowling attack (Rashid Khan, Prasidh Krishna, etc.) would trouble KKR — and they successfully defended the total.
We mentioned KKR’s batting would struggle despite having a decent bowling lineup — and that happened, with KKR collapsing under pressure.
KKR’s bowlers weren’t as impactful as we had initially rated; they were expected to at least challenge GT’s batters more, but GT dominated comfortably.
We didn’t quite see it coming — Ajinkya Rahane finally showed some intent with a fighting fifty, but once again, the responsibility of steadying KKR’s shaky batting order fell short. He and Angkrish Raghuvanshi tried to stitch things together late in the innings, but by then, the game had already slipped away.
Gujarat Titans continued their impressive run in IPL 2025 with a dominant performance against Kolkata Knight Riders, living up to the expectations. Their top-order batters once again set the platform, while the bowlers maintained control to seal a comfortable victory. Despite KKR’s strong bowling attack on paper, their batting woes continued to haunt them, leading to yet another defeat. Overall, GT’s consistency with both bat and ball was too much for an inconsistent KKR side to handle, further solidifying the Titans’ position among the top teams this season.

Openers Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav both played key roles, scoring unbeaten half-centuries to guide MI to an impressive win. First Innings: Chennai Super Kings 176/5 (20 Overs)
Batting first, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) posted 176/5 at the end of their 20 overs. The innings was anchored by impressive half-centuries from Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja. Dube struck a quick 50 off 32 balls, while Jadeja remained unbeaten with a composed 53 off 35 deliveries. Youngster Ayush Mhatre, making his IPL debut, chipped in with a rapid 32 off just 15 balls to give CSK a solid start. However, Mumbai Indians’ bowlers, particularly Jasprit Bumrah, managed to keep things under control. Bumrah finished with figures of 2/25. Hardik Pandya’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss worked well as MI restricted CSK to a manageable total.
Second Innings: Mumbai Indians 177/1 (15.4 Overs)
In response, Mumbai Indians chased down the target with ease, thanks to their openers, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, who both remained unbeaten. Rohit hammered 76* off 45 deliveries, while Suryakumar smashed 68* off just 30 balls. The duo stitched together an unbroken 114-run stand for the second wicket, steering MI to victory with 26 balls to spare. CSK’s only success with the ball came through Ravindra Jadeja, who dismissed Ryan Rickelton for 24. Overall, MI’s clinical and dominant batting display was a strong statement after their earlier struggles in the season.
Mumbai Indians were favourites: We predicted Mumbai Indians would be favourites to win, and they proved us right by crushing CSK by 9 wickets.
Mumbai’s Improvement: We highlighted how MI had been improving steadily after their slow start — and they showed that by putting up a commanding performance with both bat and ball.
CSK struggling: We correctly identified CSK’s form slump. Their middle-order again failed to deliver, and they could only post a modest total despite a few individual performances.
Bowling Performances: Jasprit Bumrah led the charge with the ball as expected for MI
Head-to-Head Battle: We mentioned how MI and CSK’s rivalry has always been close — and this match added another chapter where MI got the better of CSK yet again.
MI’s Top Order Inconsistency: We said MI’s top order had been inconsistent, but in this match, they completely dominated. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav chased the total with absolute ease, which showed a strong top-order performance.
Mumbai Indians delivered a dominant performance, securing a massive 9-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings. MI’s batters made the chase look easy, finishing the match in just 15.4 overs. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten fifties powered Mumbai to a comprehensive victory, lifting them up the points table and giving their playoff hopes a big boost. On the other hand, CSK’s struggles with consistency, especially in the middle-order and bowling under pressure, continued in this match. This season has been nothing less than nightmare for CSK which continues after this loss. Their dreams for playoffs also almost ends.
